Russia Unveils Plans for 12 Year-Round Resorts in Major Tourism Push

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has announced a large-scale tourism project that will bring 12 year-round resorts to ten Russian regions. Speaking at a development meeting in Gorno-Altaysk, he said the resorts will be built under the “Five Seas and Lake Baikal” initiative.

Regions will receive nine billion rubles this year and next to improve tourist centers. The government also plans to modernize 75 airports, with work already underway at 38 of them.

Mishustin highlighted existing state support tools, including a subsidized lending program that is currently financing the construction of 300 hotels and multifunctional complexes with more than 63,000 rooms. Another 40 year-round facilities – water parks, ski resorts, and amusement parks – are also being built. The total investment in these projects is about 1.6 trillion rubles, with one trillion coming from subsidized loans. Around 50 facilities are already welcoming guests.

Tourism numbers are strong: in the first half of the year, Russians and international visitors made over 43 million trips across the country, including more than three million foreigners. The “Max” booking platform now covers nearly 200 hotels in 40 regions.
