Russia-UAE Flights Remain Grounded, Safety Concerns Trump Temporary Truce

The prospect of Russian airlines resuming flights to the United Arab Emirates remains dim, according to a leading industry figure. Arthur Muradyan, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), stated that a current truce in regional hostilities does not provide the lasting security required to restart travel.

"I think chances exist, but I would rate them as low," Muradyan told Lenta.ru. "Safety must be maintained after the ceasefire ends, not just during this period."

He indicated that only successful diplomatic negotiations between the relevant nations could establish conditions safe enough for tourist travel. For now, a Russian government ban on flights to the region is in effect until at least May 17. The Ministry of Economic Development has also advised all tour companies to halt sales of packages to the Middle East.

"The restrictions will be lifted when it is safe, then we can sell again," Muradyan explained. "But I think it will take two to three weeks, three minimum, because you need a two-week period plus a buffer."

The regional conflict has already severely disrupted Russian business interests. Over half of Russian brands operating in the Middle East have reportedly shuttered their outlets due to rocket attacks and major supply chain failures. Analysts warn that if the temporary ceasefire between Iran and the U.S. collapses, a broader exodus of Russian companies from regional markets could follow, as operating under constant threat of bombardment is not viable.
