Russia Tops List of Tourist Arrivals in Armenia for 2025

Armenia welcomed a total of 2.3 million tourists from around the world in 2025, with a significant portion of them coming from Russia. According to data from the Armenian Ministry of Economy, 921,700 Russian tourists visited the country, accounting for approximately 40% of all tourist arrivals. This makes Russia the largest contributor to Armenia's tourism industry. Other notable countries whose citizens visited Armenia as tourists include France, with 35,900 visitors, Germany with 34,100, India with 28,500, Ukraine with 27,700, and Italy with 22,700. The significant influx of Russian tourists comes as Armenia considers its relationship with the European Union, having recently passed a law to begin the process of joining the EU. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed skepticism about the feasibility of Armenia's potential membership in both the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union, citing potential trade complications. Armenia's decision to potentially exit the Eurasian Economic Union could result in the loss of trade privileges, including a unified low tariff rate and duty-free imports in certain cases.
