Rei Ami’s In-Flight Beauty Kit Includes Masks for Eyes, Face, Hands, and Feet

Rei Ami, known for bold red-carpet looks tied to KPop Demon Hunters and its hit “Golden,” keeps things far more casual when she flies. In a recent interview, she shared her travel habits, from her first-ever flight to her go-to routine for long-haul trips.

For flying, Ami opts for comfortable matching sets or sweats, and picks either a hat or sunglasses—never both, since wearing both can look suspicious. Her in-seat setup includes chargers, skincare, and masks for her eyes, face, hands, and feet. After eating, she cleanses with hypochlorous spray, brushes her teeth, and follows a full bedtime routine to sleep and beat jet lag. She wakes up, refreshes, adds light makeup and SPF, and feels presentable.

Her first flight was as a child emigrating from South Korea to the U.S. on Korean Air, where she loved the experience while her sister cried. Her first business-class trip was on Delta One to New York for KPop Demon Hunters recording sessions, calling the lay-flat seats “life-changing.”

For sleep, she suggests skipping sleep before an international flight and using melatonin or ZzzQuil if needed. Her birthday trip this year was to Catalina Island, where she went parasailing, explored, and stayed in a villa overlooking the ocean. She often acts as the group trip planner, keeping a loose itinerary so she can include her own picks.

Her perfect vacation involves a beach and warm water, naming Hawaii, Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas. Hawaii is a place she could visit repeatedly, praising its unique waters, culture, and food. To protect her voice, she carries vitamin C, supplements, Manuka honey sprays, and throat pastilles, plus stays hydrated with water and electrolytes.

A hotel sauna is a key amenity for her, helping her sleep and signaling that the property cares for guests. Her biggest travel pet peeve is people crowding the gate before their boarding zone is called, urging travelers to sit until their group is announced. Next on her list is Madagascar, drawn by its nature, wildlife, and a childhood love of the animated film of the same name.
