Red Sea Airlines Flight to St. Petersburg Diverted to Helsinki Due to Airport Restrictions
A Red Sea Airlines flight traveling from Hurghada to St. Petersburg made an unscheduled landing at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport after temporary restrictions were imposed at St. Petersburg's airport, Finland's coast guard reported.
The aircraft refueled in Helsinki before continuing on to its destination, according to the coast guard's statement on X.
The diversion was prompted by the temporary restrictions at Pulkovo Airport. The coast guard did not elaborate on the nature of those restrictions.
Separately, reports noted that more than 370 flights were delayed or canceled at Moscow airports due to overnight flight restrictions linked to the threat of drone attacks, with airspace closed from midnight until nearly seven in the morning.
