Red Caviar Prices in Russia See Slight Decrease

The average retail price of red caviar in Russia has decreased by 1-1.5% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, indicating a stabilization of the market. According to Anton Trinin, an expert from the corporate ratings group AKRA, the average retail price of red caviar in Russia was 9,414 rubles per kilogram as of June 2026.
The main factor influencing the price of red caviar remains the volume of Pacific salmon catch. In years with favorable fishing conditions, prices tend to decrease due to an increase in supply. Trinin notes that the current price level reflects the fact that production volumes are significantly lower than in record years, and the market has already adapted to the new price range.
Trinin predicts that prices for red caviar will likely remain at current levels, with a possible moderate downward correction in successful fishing years. This forecast is based on the assumption that there will be no significant increase in the supply of raw materials, which depends on biological and climatic factors, as well as the state of salmon populations and their reproduction conditions.
The Russian Federal Agency for Fisheries, Rosrybolovstvo, has announced a total catch forecast of 227 thousand tons of Pacific salmon for 2026, with the possibility of exceeding this forecast in some regions, such as the Sakhalin region.
