Polish Tourist Raped and Robbed by Man Posing as Motorbike Taxi Driver in Bali

A man who pretended to be a motorbike taxi driver raped and robbed a tourist on the Indonesian island of Bali, The Bali Times reported.

In the early hours of October 3, a 27-year-old Polish woman was leaving an entertainment venue in Badung regency when she agreed to ride with a 44-year-old local man, identified only by the initial T., who claimed to be a taxi driver. Along the way he stopped near a bush-covered lot, pushed the woman face-down onto the ground, immobilized her and took her iPhone 17 Pro, according to the report.

Police reviewed surveillance camera footage from the area and established the suspect's description. Officers detained the man on October 10 and seized his Yamaha Aerox motorbike along with the black jacket and black helmet he wore on the day of the crime. The arrest was officially announced on October 21.

Investigators also linked T. to a burglary in March at an Australian tourist's villa in the Padonan area. A mobile phone, a 14-inch MacBook Pro and a two-terabyte hard drive were reported missing from the foreigner's home.

The accusations against the man have not yet been proven in court, and police continue to investigate both cases.
