Planning Your 2026 Vacation? These Months Will Save You Money

If you're looking to stretch your vacation budget in 2026, you'll want to mark your calendar for September, October, and December. According to Russian Senator Airat Gibatdinov, those three months each have 22 working days, making them the most profitable choices for taking time off without losing income.
July 2026 is also a strong contender, boasting 23 working days—the highest of the year. The logic is simple: vacation pay is calculated based on your average earnings over the prior 12 months. When you take leave in a month packed with workdays, the difference between your vacation payout and your regular salary often tilts in your favor, meaning you're less likely to come out behind financially.
But Gibatdinov warns there's no one-size-fits-all formula. Your final vacation pay can vary significantly if you've been on sick leave, switched jobs, or received irregular bonuses during the calculation period. So while July, September, October, and December offer the best odds for a payout that matches your paycheck, it's smart to run the numbers based on your personal situation before booking.
