“People Get Spinal Fractures”: Russian Travel Blogger Warns of Hidden Dangers in Turkey’s Most Popular Activities

A Russian travel blogger is sounding the alarm on some of Turkey’s most common holiday thrills, calling one particular activity the most injury-prone of all. In her personal blog “Let’s Fly Ourselves” on the Dzen platform, the blogger described riding the inflatable “banana” boat as a top source of serious harm. “People get spinal fractures and severe bruises,” she wrote.
According to her, the banana boat ride leads the list of risky pastimes in Turkey, followed closely by water slides. She noted that many slide accidents happen because guests fail to keep a safe distance or don’t position their bodies correctly during the descent.
The blogger also pointed to jeep safaris on winding mountain roads as a major hazard. “This is where the risk of a crash is highest,” she explained. “These tours are often run by small street agencies that cut corners on vehicle maintenance and driver training. The result is serious injuries from collisions or rollovers.”
She urged travelers to be cautious with zip-lining and paragliding as well, citing yearly reports of snapped cables and falls. The warning comes as part of a broader trend: the same blogger previously listed Venezuela, Mexico, South Africa, Brazil, and Haiti as dangerous destinations for Russian tourists.
