Palm Beach Airport to Bear Trump's Name in July

Boca Raton TribuneWednesday, June 24, 2026

In a move that's been months in the making, Palm Beach International Airport will soon be known as the President Donald J. Trump International Airport. The name change, which is set to take effect on July 9, 2026, is the result of a state law passed earlier this year. Governor Ron DeSantis signed the bill into law on March 30, paving the way for the airport's rebranding. The decision has been met with a range of reactions, with some welcoming the change and others expressing concerns. Despite the controversy, airport officials are reassuring passengers that the transition will be seamless, with no disruptions to flights or services. The airport's code will also be changing, from PBI to DJT, effective August 18, 2026. This isn't the first time the airport has undergone a name change - it was originally known as Morrison Field when it opened in 1936, before being renamed Palm Beach International Airport in 1948. As the airport prepares for its new identity, officials are emphasizing their commitment to providing a safe, reliable, and welcoming experience for all travelers. While the name may be changing, the airport's core focus remains the same. The renaming process is expected to be completed in phases, with updates to signage, branding, and public-facing materials taking place over time. As the July 9 deadline approaches, passengers can expect to see the new name and logo rolled out across the airport's facilities and online platforms.
