One Climber Dead, Another Rescued on Mount Elbrus After Latest Ordeal

Two more climbers found themselves in serious trouble on Mount Elbrus this week, triggering a rescue operation that ended in tragedy. According to the Telegram channel Mash Gor, the pair had registered their route before heading up the mountain, but became stranded during their ascent. Rescuers were called when the climbers could not make their way back down on their own.

When rescue teams reached the saddle of the mountain where the climbers were stuck, they found one of them unresponsive. Efforts to revive the man failed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Poor weather conditions prevented the evacuation of his body. The second climber was successfully brought down and did not require medical attention.

This incident follows a devastating event just days earlier. On July 25, a group of seven climbers became stranded on Elbrus at an elevation of around 5,100 meters. Five of them did not survive the descent. The repeated tragedies have raised questions about safety protocols and the increasing risks on one of Europe's highest peaks.
