New York City’s Best Spas, According to Traveler Editors Who Actually Use Them

In a city that never stops, a good spa isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. New York’s wellness scene is as sophisticated as its cocktail bars, offering everything from Roman-style thermal baths to high-tech facials. Whether you’re a local escaping the subway or a visitor in need of a hotel facial, these 13 spas have been tested and approved by our editors.

At the Spa at Mandarin Oriental, 35 stories above Central Park, the experience begins with hibiscus tea and a view of the city lights. The gender-separated wet areas include a hot tub, sauna, and amethyst steam room. Afterward, the MO Lounge is perfect for Champagne or cheesecake.

Naturopathica Tribeca feels like a breath of fresh air. Founded by an esthetician and herbalist, it offers holistic treatments with tinctures, aromatherapy, and LED technology. Its oncology care program is a standout, born from the founder’s personal experience.

Spa de La Mer at The Baccarat Hotel is an underground sanctuary. The collaboration with La Mer means facials and body treatments using the brand’s signature products. A black-and-white-tiled 55-foot pool adds to the serene vibe.

QC NY Spa on Governors Island requires a five-minute ferry ride, a soothing transition from the city. Once there, you can float between heated outdoor pools, steam rooms, and an ice room. The view of the FiDi skyline is best enjoyed from the pools.

Aire Ancient Baths in Tribeca is a phone-free zone inspired by Roman, Greek, and Ottoman baths. Guests move through cold plunges, warm Caldarium, and a 104-degree hot tub. Treatments include Himalayan salt scrubs and wine baths.

Remedy Place Flatiron is a hub for cutting-edge wellness. It’s known for ice baths, but also offers IV drips, infrared saunas, hyperbaric oxygen chambers, and cryotherapy. The space encourages social self-care, with options to share treatments with friends.

The Spa at Hotel Chelsea is a rooftop surprise. A tiny elevator leads to a sun-drenched spa with skyline views and a wildflower garden. Services include Swedish sauna, hot stone massage, and Reiki. Non-guests are welcome.

At Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown, a marble-clad 75-foot lap pool and seven treatment rooms await. The spa offers restorative bodywork, skin peels, and a members-only wellness club with fitness training and pool access.

The Spa by Equinox Hotels in Hudson Yards blends luxury with medi-spa services. Think facials paired with IV drips and bioregenesis. The gym is the largest hotel gym in NYC, open to hotel guests.

Bamford Wellness Spa at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge focuses on holistic care with a connection to nature. Signature treatments include the Signature Bamford Treatment with foot bath, massage, and yogic breathing. The menu is extensive.

Spa Diane Barriere at Fouquet’s New York is an underground oasis for a quick reset. Five treatment rooms, an indoor pool, and a hammam-inspired design make it feel restorative and private.
