NCL Consolidates Global Sales Under Chernesky as Fleet Expands

Norwegian Cruise Line has restructured its sales leadership, promoting John Chernesky to Senior Vice President and Chief Sales Officer. The move, effective immediately, gives Chernesky unified command over all global trade and consumer sales channels. He reports directly to NCL President Marc Kazlauskas.

Chernesky, a cruise industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, joined NCL in 2023 to lead North American sales. His promotion is a direct response to the line's accelerating growth, including new ships and increased passenger capacity. 'John has been key in making NCL the preferred partner for advisors,' Kazlauskas said. 'This new structure will sharpen our focus as we grow.'

The reorganization aims to simplify how travel advisors work with NCL worldwide. It follows the company's recent decision to eliminate non-commissionable fares on bookings made after December 26, 2025, for sailings from May 1, 2026 onward—a policy change strongly endorsed by the trade.

Supporting Chernesky are Jason Krimmel, overseeing international sales and marketing, and Michael Tomoleoni, leading consumer sales. A head for domestic trade sales is yet to be named.

The shift coincides with several commercial initiatives for 2026, including the reintroduction of a premium 'Free at Sea Plus' package and significant upgrades to private destinations like Great Stirrup Cay. With the new Norwegian Aura set to launch in 2027 as the line's largest ship, NCL is betting that a cohesive sales strategy will be essential to filling its expanding fleet. 'We have a major opportunity to align our efforts globally,' Chernesky noted. 'My goal is to ensure we remain the easiest cruise line for our partners to do business with.'
