Moscow’s Vega Hotel Becomes Russia’s First Green-Certified Property
A Moscow hotel just made history. The Vega Hotel in Izmailovo has become the first in Russia to earn a “Green Hotel” certification, awarded by the accredited body Roskachestvo-Tourism. The certification recognizes the hotel’s comprehensive approach to sustainability, covering environmental, social, and management practices.
According to Roskachestvo, experts evaluated the hotel’s energy and water use, waste management, sustainable purchasing, chemical usage, and its labor conditions and social responsibility efforts. The hotel now operates with a clear system for reducing its environmental footprint.
Guests can play a part in these efforts, too. For instance, by placing a card on their bed, they can choose how often they want fresh linens. They can also opt out of daily room cleaning entirely. These small choices help cut resource consumption without sacrificing comfort. The Vega’s certification marks a notable step for Russia’s hospitality industry, signaling that green credentials are becoming a real priority.
