Moscow, St. Petersburg Top List for Winter Business Travel

MOSCOW, March 6 – A new report from corporate travel service OneTwoTrip for Business reveals where Russia's workforce was on the move this past winter. The capital, Moscow, remained the undisputed leader, accounting for more than a quarter of all business trips. St. Petersburg followed in second place with 9% of trips, while the Republic of Tatarstan took third with 6.1%.
The top ten destinations also included Krasnodar Krai, Sverdlovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow, Novosibirsk, and Voronezh Oblasts, alongside the Komi Republic. Several regions saw a dramatic surge in corporate travel compared to previous seasons. Business trips to Voronezh Oblast increased nearly fivefold, while travel to the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug more than doubled. Trips to Moscow Oblast also rose significantly.
Conversely, Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, and Irkutsk Oblasts, as well as Perm Krai, all saw a notable decline in business travel activity.
The data also highlighted the length of average trips. Assignments in Kurgan Oblast were the longest, with employees staying an average of 23 days. Business trips to Lipetsk Oblast averaged two weeks, while travel to Leningrad and Sakhalin Oblasts, and Zabaykalsky Krai, typically lasted around ten days. The figures paint a clear picture of Russia's shifting commercial centers during the winter months.
