Moscow Airports Resume Operations After Morning Disruptions

Moscow’s Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports resumed normal flight operations early Wednesday morning, according to Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya). Vnukovo started receiving and dispatching flights again at 8:25 a.m. local time, while Domodedovo followed suit at 6:20 a.m. The news came via the agency’s official Telegram channel, bringing relief to travelers who faced delays earlier in the day.
Sheremetyevo and Zhukovsky airports, meanwhile, continued operating without any restrictions throughout the morning, the agency confirmed. The swift return to normalcy at Vnukovo and Domodedovo marked the end of temporary halts, though officials did not specify the reason for the earlier closures. Passengers were advised to check with their airlines for updated schedules.
The disruptions in Moscow came amid a separate, larger headache for travelers elsewhere in Russia. Hundreds of passengers were stranded at three airports—Barnaul, Kemerovo, and Omsk—due to widespread flight delays. Large crowds formed in those terminals as airlines scrambled to rebook and accommodate frustrated travelers. The situation highlighted ongoing logistical strains in the country’s aviation network, though Moscow’s airports appear to have avoided the worst of it.
