Mexico’s Editor-Vetted Hotel Standouts, From Cabo to Oaxaca

Condé Nast Traveler has unveiled its hand-picked guide to the best hotels in Mexico, organized by region and packed with insider tips on amenities. The list also introduces the magazine’s new Triple Crown honor, awarded to hotels that have earned spots across its Readers’ Choice Awards, Gold List, and Hot List.
The top picks are Habitas Bacalar for best overall, Octavia Casa for best value, and One&Only Mandarina for best amenities. The coastal roster includes Cabo San Lucas favorites like Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, where every room has a private plunge pool and Pacific view, and Esperanza, the only private-beach resort in Los Cabos. Farther south, Rosewood Mayakoba brings a mile of white-sand beachfront and six pools to Playa del Carmen, while Maroma pairs Mayan-healing spa traditions with Mexican-made furnishings. Chablé Yucatán offers jungle casitas with private pools near Mérida.
Mexico City stays range from the theatrical W Mexico City in Polanco to the converted 1947 apartment building Hotel San Fernando in Condesa and Colima 71, a former school turned minimalist art-filled hideaway in Roma Norte. In Oaxaca, Grupo Habita’s Otro stands out for its rooftop pool and underground cenote-style wading pool.
For travelers deciding when to go, the magazine notes that October through May is Mexico’s high season, with little rainfall and cooler temperatures, while rainy months run June through September. For luxury all-inclusives, it points to Riviera Nayarit, calling out One&Only Mandarina and the adults-only tented resort Naviva in Punta Mita. All hotels were selected independently by the magazine’s editors, with design, location, service, and sustainability in mind.
