Mexico and Russia Discuss Returning to Direct Flights

Mexico's embassy has held talks with Russian officials, tourism industry representatives and airlines about possible ways to resume direct air service between the two countries. The aim is to make travel between them easier. Diplomats said recent discussions involved authorities, tour operators and carriers interested in considering various options. They noted that organizing such flights would require a commercially viable setup and approval from aviation authorities. However, they also said negotiations at that level have not yet begun. Dialogue is continuing, and mutual interest in tourism is growing. According to the Russian Union of Tourism Industry, up to 5,000 Russians still visit Mexico each month even without direct flights.
