Memory Train Embarks on Journey to Honor WWII Heroes

RIA NovostiSunday, June 21, 2026

A unique project, the Memory Train, has set off from Moscow's Belarusian railway station, marking its fifth annual journey to commemorate the Great Patriotic War. This year, 200 high school students from former Soviet republics and, for the first time, from countries that were part of the anti-Hitler coalition, including the US, UK, and France, are participating in the project. The students, who are descendants of war veterans, will travel through eight cities in Belarus and five in Russia, united under the Banner of Victory. The train departed from Moscow on Saturday at 23:10 and is scheduled to arrive in Brest on Sunday at 13:00, where the students will take part in memorial events marking the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The train features modern two-story compartment cars, two restaurant cars, and a car with shower facilities. The journey aims to promote remembrance and understanding of the war's history among young people from different countries. As the train travels through various cities, the students will participate in discussions, visits to historical sites, and other activities to honor the heroes of WWII.
