Mass Food Poisoning at Turkish Resort Sends 30 Tourists to Hospital
Nearly three dozen guests at a five-star hotel in the popular Turkish resort town of Kuşadası were rushed to local hospitals over the weekend, suspected victims of mass food poisoning. According to the tourism news site Turizmnews, approximately 30 tourists reported sudden nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain after dining at the property’s buffet.
The outlet noted symptoms appeared shortly after guests ate meals included in the “all-inclusive” plan. While some victims were treated and released, others remain under medical observation. Local health officials and police have launched an investigation, collecting food and water samples from the hotel’s buffet and kitchen for lab testing. The district’s agriculture and forestry department is also involved in the probe.
Kuşadası, a major Aegean coast destination, draws hundreds of thousands of domestic and international visitors each year. Authorities are still working to confirm whether any Russian nationals are among those hospitalized. The incident has raised fresh concerns about food safety standards at high-end resorts, a topic that has simmered for years in Turkey’s tourism industry.
