Krasnodar Region expands year-round tourism with new trails and experiences

The Krasnodar region, one of Russia's most recognizable tourist destinations, welcomed 18.1 million visitors in 2025 and has already hosted 8.7 million since the start of this year, according to the regional ministry. Nearly half of tourists now visit during the off-season, with growing interest in rural, wine, gastronomic, and industrial tourism, as well as hiking and nature excursions.

The region operates stably despite challenges, offering about 11,000 hotels, sanatoriums, and guest houses, including 204 sanatoriums and 87 all-inclusive properties. Over 200 new accommodations have opened in the last five years, bringing total capacity to around 630,000 places. Booking depth along the coast reaches two to three months, with average summer bookings at 65% as of August 1, and 74% occupancy overall. Anapa is seeing renewed interest, with hotels 79% full and summer bookings up 15% from last year.

More than 600 beaches span over 115 kilometers, with 129 holding a 'blue flag' quality rating. Visitors can explore over 780 attractions, including 100 rural tourism sites like cheese factories, apiaries, snail and oyster farms, tea plantations, and trout farms. Around 35 wineries in Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, Anapa, and other districts welcome guests, while over 130 industrial enterprises offer tours.

For nature lovers, over 360 hiking routes traverse protected areas, with the region's natural reserve fund expanded by 27% since 2016. A new five-kilometer trail opened in late 2025 on Mount Kizinch in Mostovsky District, featuring scenic cliffs home to 43 red-listed animal species and 15 protected plants. The trail includes safety fencing, rest areas, signage, and viewing platforms, making it accessible year-round for all ages, including families. School excursions and tours via operators are already available.
