Krasnodar Krai and Altai Top Russian Destinations for Group Trips, Survey Finds

Krasnodar Krai and Altai are the most popular Russian destinations for travelling with friends, according to a survey by Otello and 2GIS seen by Vedomosti.Gorod.

Krasnodar Krai was chosen by 18% of respondents and Altai by 12%. The poll covered 1,000 people aged 18 to 55 from cities with more than 500,000 residents. No margin of error was given.

Next came the Golden Ring cities, St Petersburg and Kazan at 8% each. Rounding out the top ten were Leningrad and Moscow regions at 6%, followed by Moscow, Karelia and Kaliningrad at 5%.

Destination choice varied by age: respondents aged 18-34 more often travelled to Krasnodar Krai, Kaliningrad and Vladivostok; those aged 35-44 preferred Altai; and the 45-55 group headed to the Moscow region.

Excursions and museums were the most common activity at 45%, ahead of nature outings at 43% and beach holidays at 34%. Active recreation and sport drew 19%, food-focused trips 14%, clubs and parties 13%, while one in ten chose festivals, concerts or sporting events.

Just over half of respondents, 55%, spent nearly all their time with their travel companions, while 43% mixed a shared itinerary with independent time.
