July Travel Diaries: What Our Editors Are Packing and Where They're Going

Summer is in full swing, and our travel editors are scattering across the globe—from the rugged coast of Cornwall to the volcanic shores of Maui. This month, we're trading desk views for ocean horizons, packing bags for bucket-list trips, and discovering new corners of the world we can't stop thinking about. Here's a peek at where we're headed and what's coming along for the ride.

Commerce writer Jessica Sulima is returning to Greece for the fourth time, this time to the island of Andros with her best friend. She booked a minimalist Airbnb in Kalamaki after spotting its electric blue bedroom view, and the gamble paid off: rugged beaches, a marble-lined capital with no tourist crowds, and a grueling one-hour cliffside drive to Achla beach, where swans surf the waves. Her packing list includes an L.L.Bean Boat and Tote, a copy of Linda Rosenkratz's "Talk," Buck Mason cutoffs, a Gap pointelle tank, and G.H. Bass fisherman sandals. Social media manager Lucy Bruton is leaning into wedding season with a sunny yellow Simkhai dress and Vyrao Sun Rae fragrance, plus a pair of eccentric studded clogs she dreamed about. She's escaping London for Cornwall, where she'll hit North Street Kitchen in Fowey for fresh seafood, then head to Glenapp Castle in Scotland for an ocean safari—packing a lightweight rain jacket just in case.

Senior visuals editor Pallavi Kumar is finally taking that sister trip to Maui she's been dreaming about for years. She's splitting a week between the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea and the Grand Wailea, planning spa days, snorkeling at Turtletown, and a boat ride to Molokini crater in hopes of spotting manta rays. Her suitcase is curated like an art director's mood board: a Hunza G Nadine bikini, Same's Palm Beach shell silk sarong, Rat & Boa's Valentina dress, and Celine Triomphe sunglasses that stay on from JFK to the last sunset. Global video director Preshita Saha is starting July at the British Grand Prix, glamping at Silverstone with a Barbour jacket and Tower 28 spray. Then it's a birthday picnic in her garden, plus a recent return from Cambodia where she filmed an episode of "Where the Chef's Eat" and brought back Kampot pepper that's now in everything she cooks. She's also planning a multigenerational family trip to Egypt later this year.

Commerce director Madison Flager is finally checking Niagara Falls off her list after a decade in the Northeast. She's flying to Toronto, staying at the Kimpton Saint George, and packing a waterproof phone pouch for the boat tour, Aerie linen pants, low-profile Adidas sneakers, and a lightweight hand serum. Acting senior audience development manager Chloe Laws just got married in Hackney and honeymooned on Ischia, where she floated in thermal pools at San Montano and ate her weight in buffalo mozzarella. July is about staving off post-wedding blues with a Tracey Emin exhibition, two more weddings, a stay at The Hoste Arms in Norfolk, and a first visit to Mykonos. Social media editor Noah Cortez, who never thought he'd go to the Dominican Republic, booked a last-minute trip to Las Galeras after discovering Ocama, a hillside property owned by the founder of Stacey's Pita Chips. He spent his days hopping between remote beaches—Playa del Amor, Playa Frontón, Playa Rincón—and packed Billabong boardshorts, a Cotopaxi hip pack, an Alfie's Mission button-up, and his Beats Studio Pro for the long drives.
