July Tops the List for Best Value Vacation Month in Second Half of the Year

When planning a getaway for the second half of the year, the calendar can be just as important as the destination—especially for your wallet. According to Sergey Muravyov, HR director at KROS, July stands out as the most financially advantageous month to take time off. With 23 working days, it offers the best balance between lost salary and vacation pay.
Muravyov crunched the numbers for a typical salary of 100,000 rubles and a 14-day vacation. The result: vacation pay comes to roughly 47,782 rubles, which largely offsets the salary you miss. “July is the most profitable month for rest in the second half of the year,” he explained.
On the flip side, November and August are the least favorable. November has only 20 working days, and August has 21. Both leave you with a larger gap between your regular pay and your vacation compensation. The remaining months all have 22 working days, making them a middle-of-the-road option.
Muravyov also warns that factors like sick leave or business trips during the calculation period can change the formula, so it’s worth checking your specific situation. The bottom line: if you want to stretch your vacation budget, aim for months with the most working days. July is your best bet.
