JetBlue's BlueFirst Debuts in Fort Lauderdale This December
JetBlue is launching its new domestic first-class cabin, BlueFirst, with its first revenue flight set for December 8 from Boston to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The choice of Fort Lauderdale is notable: it was JetBlue's first destination when the airline began, and now it hosts the debut of the carrier's newest premium cabin.
BlueFirst is a two-by-two cabin built for JetBlue's non-Mint fleet. It offers seats with Tuft & Needle Flex foam, five inches of recline, and up to seven inches more legroom than Main cabin, plus a 13.3-inch seatback screen with Bluetooth. On flights of 899 miles or longer, passengers get FirstFare dining with an entrée, side, and dessert, along with sommelier-selected wines and specialty coffees. Boarding is Group 1 with dedicated overhead bin space and priority check-in and security.
CEO Joanna Geraghty said BlueFirst was designed to deliver a more accessible first-class experience combining JetBlue's hospitality with value and comfort.
Service expands from Fort Lauderdale over the winter. December routes include Boston, Buffalo, New York LaGuardia, Washington D.C., and Liberia, Costa Rica. January adds Aruba, Austin, Cartagena, Charlotte, Nashville, San José, and San Juan. By late winter, Cancún, Dallas-Fort Worth, New Orleans, Hartford, Santo Domingo, Medellín, and Westchester County join. Introductory fares include $249 one-way between FLL and LaGuardia and $299 between FLL and Boston.
