Jersey Mike’s Just Knocked Chick-fil-A Off Its Decade-Long Throne

For more than ten years, Chick-fil-A reigned as the fast-food chain Americans loved most. But a new survey shows the crown has passed—to a sub shop known for its “Mike’s Way” toppings.
The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) released its 2026 rankings on Tuesday, based on more than 16,000 customer surveys collected between April 2025 and March 2026. Jersey Mike’s scored an 84 out of 100, edging out Chick-fil-A’s 83. It’s a narrow win, but it ends the chicken chain’s long run at the top.
What pushed Jersey Mike’s ahead? The ACSI report points to “freshness, food variety, and value,” noting the chain has “maintained its quality while scaling rapidly.” That growth is real: Jersey Mike’s added 238 locations in 2025 alone.
The chain’s made-to-order sandwiches are the draw, and the signature “Mike’s Way” preparation—onions, lettuce, tomatoes, oil, vinegar, and spices—has become a cult favorite. Customers can order it or skip it.
Chick-fil-A didn’t fall far. It still leads the chicken category, and in the burger world, Culver’s and Burger King share the top spot. But for now, America’s favorite fast-food stop is the one that builds subs one order at a time.
