J.Lo's New Netflix Rom-Com Takes a Work Trip from Jersey to the Dominican Republic

Jennifer Lopez is stepping back into the rom-com spotlight with Netflix's latest release, "Office Romance," a film that shuttles viewers from corporate boardrooms in New Jersey to the sandy shores of the Dominican Republic.
Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, a CEO fighting to save her family's airline, AirCruz, from collapse. Enter Daniel Blanchflower, played by Brett Goldstein (best known as Roy Kent from "Ted Lasso"), a no-nonsense lawyer brought in to handle the company's legal mess. Sparks fly immediately, but there's a catch: the airline has a strict policy against office relationships.
The film's locations are as varied as its leads. The exterior of the AirCruz headquarters was filmed at the Northeast Science & Technology Center in Kenilworth, New Jersey, a sprawling two-million-square-foot lab complex. Scenes of Jackie and Daniel grabbing lunch or hot chocolate along the Hudson River were shot in downtown Hoboken, New York, where film crews were spotted by local passersby. Daniel's city apartment is actually the Cliffs Lofts building nearby.
The real showstopper, though, is Cayo Levantado Resort on the coast of Samaná in the Dominican Republic. This is where the pair's work retreat turns into something far more personal. The resort sits on 35 acres of landscaped grounds with 219 rooms, two massive pools, a private beach, and amenities like yoga, nutritionists, and massages with Tibetan singing bowls. Rooms overlook the Caribbean, making it an ideal backdrop for romance.
"It’s brilliant," said director Ol Parker. "Everyone looks even happier and more gorgeous with water behind them—especially when they’re Brett and Jennifer."
"Office Romance" is streaming on Netflix now.
