Israeli Traveler Cancels Hotel Booking Over Political Message

An Israeli tourist has canceled her reservation at a hotel in Italy after receiving an automated email that contained a politically charged slogan. The incident, reported by The Jerusalem Post, highlights growing tensions surrounding the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement in European hospitality.

The woman had booked a room at the Decumani Hotel De Charme in Italy when she received an automated message stating the hotel was participating in the BDS Italy campaign titled “No Place for Genocide.” She responded by canceling her booking, expressing that she no longer felt safe staying there. Shortly after, the hotel sent a follow-up email elaborating on its stance.

“Our hotel supports the ‘No Place for Genocide’ campaign and respects the freedom and rights of community members suffering from racial, ethnic, social, and other forms of discrimination,” the message read. “We warmly welcome Palestinians, refugees, and all those who peacefully resist oppression and fight for their internationally recognized rights.” The incident comes just weeks after two Israeli women were asked to leave a sauna in Europe after other guests noticed a Star of David pendant they were wearing.
