Inside The Ranch Malibu: Why Hollywood Pays $1,500 a Night for a No-Frills Reset

Forget gentle spa weekends. The hottest trend in wellness travel right now is the hard-core reset—and no place does it better than The Ranch Malibu. Tucked into 200 acres of the Santa Monica Mountains, this retreat has quietly become the go-to destination for celebrities who want results, not relaxation.

Founded in 2010, The Ranch limits itself to just 25 guests per week. That small group, combined with a strict daily schedule and no televisions, is the whole point. Guests stay in private cottages with limited Wi-Fi, designed to force a true digital detox. The signature program runs six, seven or eight nights, with shorter three- and four-night options available.

Mornings start with a two- or four-hour group hike. Afternoons bring strength training, restorative yoga or meditation, plus a daily massage. All meals are plant-based, sourced from the property’s organic gardens and local farms, and calorie-controlled to promote weight loss. Guests also get a Bod Pod body composition analysis, cooking demonstrations and nutrition talks.

Amenities include an infrared sauna, heated outdoor pool, jacuzzi and cold plunges. For an extra fee, you can add IV therapy, acupuncture, cupping or reiki. Laundry is washed and folded daily, and return airport transfers to LAX run Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Rates range from $1,500 to $1,700 per night, single occupancy, all-inclusive. That price tag hasn’t scared off Hollywood. Rebel Wilson dropped eight pounds over a long weekend. Connie Britton, Lea Michele and Mandy Moore have all checked in.

What draws them back? The no-nonsense structure. In an industry built on control and customization, The Ranch offers the opposite: a fixed schedule, a strict menu and a week without a phone. For stars, that discipline is the ultimate luxury.
