Hong Kong Cracks Down on E-Cigarettes and Vaping Products

RIA NovostiFriday, July 24, 2026

Russian tourists heading to Hong Kong have been warned about the strict customs bans in place, particularly when it comes to electronic cigarettes and vaping products. The city has a zero-tolerance policy towards these items, and even accidental possession can lead to severe penalties and potential criminal liability.

The consul of the Russian consulate in Hong Kong, Ekaterina Bogucharskaya, emphasized that the ban extends to all devices and liquids related to vaping, and that tourists should be aware of the risks of bringing these items into the city. The ban also applies to products containing cannabidiol (CBD), including cosmetics and food supplements.

For traditional tobacco products, there are also restrictions in place: duty-free allowances are limited to 19 cigarettes, one cigar, or 25 grams of tobacco per person. It's essential for tourists to be aware of these regulations to avoid any issues during their trip.

The warning serves as a reminder for travelers to do their research and understand the local laws and regulations before arriving in Hong Kong, to ensure a smooth and enjoyable vacation.
