Heart-Stopping Moment at Boston Airport: Two Jets Come Within 300ft of Each Other

A harrowing incident at Boston's Logan International Airport has raised concerns about air traffic safety after a Delta jet and an American Airlines plane came perilously close to each other. According to aviation expert Todd Curtis, the two commercial flights were a mere 300ft apart during the close call on Saturday. Curtis, a former Boeing safety engineer, made the estimation using flight tracking data from Flightradar24. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident, which forced the Delta aircraft to abandon its landing attempt and perform a go-around. The Delta flight, carrying 129 passengers and six crew members, had been attempting to land when it was alerted to the presence of the departing American Airlines plane on an intersecting runway. The crew swiftly coordinated with air traffic control to execute the go-around, a routine procedure that allows pilots to abort a landing and circle back for another attempt. Although the plane landed safely and passengers disembarked normally, the incident has sparked concern among federal aviation officials, who have been monitoring the risk of runway incursions. The issue will be addressed at a Senate hearing on Tuesday, where lawmakers will explore ways to enhance safety across the national airspace system.
