German Tourist Found Dead in Colombian Hotel Room, Second Man Hospitalized

A holiday at the Barranquilla carnival in Colombia ended in tragedy for two German tourists this week. According to a report by Bild, a 36-year-old man was found dead in his hotel room on Saturday, February 14. His 55-year-old traveling companion was discovered in the same room, semi-conscious, and was rushed to a local hospital.

The pair had been staying at the Casa Rueda hotel in southern Barranquilla since February 12. Local investigators stated the younger man's body showed no visible signs of violence. Security footage from the hotel revealed the two men entered the building accompanied by two women, who later left alone.

Police are investigating the possibility that the tourists were drugged. A leading theory is that the substances used could be connected to so-called 'rape drug' incidents, though authorities await official toxicology results for confirmation. The case has been classified as a suspicious death.

The incident casts a shadow over the vibrant carnival season, a major draw for international visitors. Local police have not released the identities of the German nationals and continue to search for the two women seen on camera.
