Georgia Opens Its Doors with New Five-Year 'Digital Nomad' Visa

Georgia is rolling out a formal welcome mat for remote workers from abroad. The country's parliament has approved a new visa category, known as the C5 or 'digital nomad' visa, designed to attract long-term visitors with foreign employment.

The visa is valid for five years and permits holders to stay in Georgia for up to twelve months at a time. It targets well-paid professionals who work for companies based outside the country. The government also plans to extend the privilege to the primary applicant's spouse and minor children.

Applicants must hold citizenship from nations Georgia deems 'safe,' though the official list has not yet been published. Processing will be expedited under the new rules, but officials have also introduced a broad new ground for refusal: 'state immigration policy.' Decisions citing this reason cannot be appealed.

The cost for the visa will range from $20 to $500, a significant variance likely tied to processing speed or applicant nationality. This move positions Georgia as a competitive destination in the growing market for remote work hubs, offering a legal framework for an extended Caucasian stay.
