From Kazakhstan to Cyprus: A New Route Opens for Russian Travelers

Russian tourists now have another option for reaching Cyprus, thanks to a fresh air link through Kazakhstan. The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) announced on Telegram that direct flights between Kazakhstan and Cyprus launched on June 2, connecting the two countries for the first time.
Air Astana began operating twice-weekly services from the Kazakh capital, with a second route from Almaty starting June 4. Both flights use comfortable Airbus A321LR aircraft. Starting September 2025, Cyprus Airways plans to offer return flights from Larnaca to Astana.
For Russian travelers, this means a new connecting path to Cyprus. Current round-trip tickets from Astana to Larnaca, including baggage, start at 47,600 rubles for late June departures. Adding a flight from Moscow to the Kazakh capital costs around 30,000 rubles, bringing the total to 77,000–80,000 rubles. However, the alternative via FlyOne Armenia with a stop in Yerevan remains cheaper at 58,800 rubles round-trip with baggage.
Meanwhile, in 2023, authorities in Northern Cyprus expressed interest in launching direct flights to Russia. Ersin Tatar stated in October that direct access to the self-declared republic could become available in the near future, though no concrete timeline has been set.
