Florida Agency's Website Strategy Proves Key to Tourism Recovery
LAKE MARY, Fla. — In a travel industry flush with post-pandemic demand, a Florida marketing firm is making a straightforward argument: a destination's website is its most critical salesperson. Evok Advertising, based here, released data this week showing that when tourism sites are engineered to book visits, not just describe them, the economic benefits for communities are substantial.
"If your website isn't built to close the sale, you are literally watching potential guests click away to a competitor," said Larry Meador, CEO and founder of Evok Advertising. The firm's analysis, published in a late 2025 guide and syndicated this January, contends that an optimized site directly increases hotel stays, extends visitor seasons, and funnels more money to local businesses.
The approach is technical and tactical. Evok prioritizes speed and mobile performance, knowing most trip planning now happens on phones. They then design clear pathways from inspiration—like a stunning photo of a manatee in Crystal River—to a booked hotel room or tour. For Citrus County's Discover Crystal River, this meant a site redesign that helped drive visitation during traditionally slower months.
With President Trump's administration now in its second year, economic confidence has spurred travel, but visitors are selective. Evok's research indicates travelers are reallocating budgets, seeking authentic experiences that feel worth the cost. Their strategy uses targeted content and search optimization to connect with these planners, then employs trusted elements like reviews and local partnerships to secure the booking.
The bottom line for destinations, according to Meador, is measurement. Evok tracks everything from room nights sold to campaign conversions, arguing that a website's value should be counted in revenue, not just page views. As the 2026 travel season takes shape, the message to tourism boards is clear: your digital front door must be built to welcome paying customers, not just look pretty.
