Five-Star Hype Meets Cold Reality: Russian Family's Egyptian Resort Disappointment

A Russian traveler's recent holiday at a premier Sharm El-Sheikh resort became a lesson in unmet promises. Igor, who booked a ten-day stay for his family at the five-star Pickalbatros Aqua Park hotel, shared his experience with the travel blog 'Marshruty Vygodnykh Puteshestviy' on Yandex Zen.
Igor chose the hotel specifically for its expansive water park, anticipating a major attraction for his children. The reality, however, fell dramatically short. Upon arrival, they discovered most of the slides were out of operation. A more pervasive issue was the water temperature. 'The main problem is the ice-cold water,' Igor noted. 'Heating is only in a few pools, not on the slides themselves. So, everyone crams into two swimming complexes, and the huge aquapark stands half-empty. Jostling in warm water is a dubious pleasure.'
The disappointments extended beyond the pool. The family's room featured worn-out furniture, and basic amenities like robes and slippers had to be requested from the front desk. Items such as combs, razors, and shower caps were not provided at all. Igor's summary was blunt: 'A beach a fifteen-minute drive away, tired rooms, monotonous food, and indifferent staff. This hotel might suit those who just need a fenced area with slides for kids and are willing to overlook everything else.'
The report follows recent advisories to Russian tourists about potential phone blockages in Egypt due to local SIM card registration rules.
