Family Alleges Russian Tourist Forcibly Removed from Plane in Indonesia

A Russian tourist's family is pleading for help, alleging she was forcibly taken from an airplane in Indonesia and is being held against her will. The claims, reported by the Telegram news channel '112' and based on statements from the woman's brother, have not been independently verified by official sources.

According to her brother, Natalia Rukavishnikova was on vacation when she met a local man. As she attempted to depart the country, he says unidentified individuals removed her from the aircraft before takeoff. "She was screaming," he told the channel. The family believes the man she met has criminal connections and significant local influence.

They allege her phone and passport were confiscated and her movements are restricted. The family reports she is occasionally permitted to make video calls, which provide their only updates on her condition. While the alleged captor has promised to return her home in a month, her relatives express deep skepticism. They now say she is being taken to extend her visa at a Russian embassy, but fear any escape plans could be thwarted due to the man's purported connections.

Vacation Affairs contacted the Russian and Indonesian embassies, as well as relevant airport authorities, for comment but has not yet received a response. The situation underscores broader, well-documented risks travelers can face. In a separate, confirmed pattern, criminal groups have lured individuals to Southeast Asia with fake job offers, only to force them into scam operations—a serious concern for officials, but not directly linked to this specific, unfolding allegation.
