Estonian Tourism to Russia Surpasses 18,000 in 2025

Moscow, May 5 – More than 18,000 Estonian tourists visited Russia in 2025, part of a broader wave of over 61,000 citizens from the Baltic state who crossed the border last year, according to statistics obtained by RIA Novosti.

The most common reason for travel was private visits, accounting for 37,200 entries. Tourist trips followed closely, with 18,700 Estonians entering Russia specifically for leisure. The busiest period was the third quarter of 2025, when 18,600 Estonians crossed the Russian border, with July, August, and September seeing the highest numbers.

Beyond tourism and private visits, 559 Estonians came for business purposes, 442 arrived to study, and 308 entered for work-related reasons.

Earlier, the publication Life reported that Estonian citizens are increasingly purchasing tour packages to the Russian border to watch Victory Day celebrations, suggesting a continued interest in cross-border cultural events despite geopolitical tensions.

The data highlights a steady flow of travel between the two neighboring countries, with personal connections and tourism driving the majority of visits.
