Egypt Tourist Visa Fee Set to Rise in March

Travelers planning a trip to Egypt should prepare for a small increase in visa costs starting next month. According to a report from Cairo 24, citing Egypt's Chamber of Tourist Companies and Agencies, the entry visa fee at Egyptian ports of entry will rise from $25 to $30 on March 1, 2026. This adjustment, confirmed by RIA Novosti, marks the first official increase after months of speculation.
Last December, Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities denied reports of a jump to $45, clarifying that only a maximum fee ceiling was being established. However, the groundwork for higher fees was laid in late 2025 when the government approved a bill to increase charges for Foreign Ministry services. That legislation, designed to fund the modernization of Egypt's embassies and consulates worldwide by redirecting tourism revenue, could have doubled the visa cost.
The upcoming $5 increase is a moderated version of those earlier plans. Officials state the additional revenue will help upgrade diplomatic facilities abroad without placing undue strain on the national budget. For tourists, the change adds a minor cost to visiting the country's famed pyramids and resorts, but falls short of the more significant hike previously feared.
