Disneyland Reaches 1 Billion Visitors Just Before Its 71st Birthday

Disneyland hit a historic milestone this week, welcoming its one billionth guest through the gates just shy of the park’s 71st anniversary. The lucky visitor was eight-year-old Andres Robles of Arizona, who was celebrating his birthday at the Anaheim park with his parents.
The Robles family took part in a ceremony on the Main Street U.S.A. train station platform, where they helped unveil an updated park sign reading “Population 1,000,000,000.” As part of the celebration, they received a complimentary VIP tour guide for the day, toured Walt Disney’s private apartment, and experienced the newly opened Soarin’ Across America attraction. Disneyland has been marking its 70th anniversary since May 2025 with special pricing and events that continue through August.
The milestone comes as Disneyland, which first opened on July 18, 1955, continues to navigate criticism over rising ticket prices. In March, Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro acknowledged that a trip to the park is a significant expense for families but emphasized that guest satisfaction and return rates remain high. While recent annual price increases have been more modest than in prior years, many ticket hikes have still outpaced inflation. D’Amaro said the company’s goal is for every visitor to feel the experience is worth it, adding that they consistently track guest feedback to ensure the park delivers on that promise.
