Direct Rail Link to Connect Donetsk and Simferopol by 2029

A major development is underway in the Donetsk People's Republic, with plans to launch a direct train service between Donetsk and Simferopol. According to the republic's Transport Minister, Alexander Bondarenko, the new route will provide a seamless journey between the two cities. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2029, with a series of organizational events set to take place that year. In the meantime, a direct rail link between Donetsk and Voronezh, passing through Luhansk, is expected to open in 2028. The announcement comes as Russian forces continue to make gains in the region, with the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk People's Republic reportedly almost entirely under their control. The new train service is expected to boost connectivity and economic ties between the regions, and marks a significant investment in the local transportation infrastructure. As the project progresses, residents and travelers can look forward to a faster and more convenient way to travel between Donetsk and Simferopol.
