Despite Neighbor Restrictions, 160,000 Foreign Tourists Visited Kaliningrad in 2025

Kaliningrad, May 7 — The Kaliningrad region welcomed roughly 160,000 international visitors in 2025, according to Governor Alexei Besprozvannykh. Speaking this week during a media school for foreign bloggers, the governor noted the figure is particularly striking given the travel restrictions imposed by neighboring countries.
“The region saw about 2.5 million total visitors last year,” Besprozvannykh said in response to a Belgian blogger’s question about the area’s appeal to foreigners. “Despite the limitations our unfriendly neighbors are trying to enforce, nearly 160,000 foreign tourists came to Kaliningrad.”
The governor emphasized the region’s strong tourism potential, pointing to its historic sites, parks, and shopping streets that now draw many visitors from nearby countries simply for a stroll. “There’s a lot to see here,” he added.
Looking ahead, Besprozvannykh outlined plans to expand airport infrastructure and develop new tourism routes from the classic Baltic coast to the eastern part of the region. “There’s plenty to explore out there,” he said.
The announcement came during the Media School for Foreign Bloggers, organized by the World Youth Festival directorate and the youth media center “Shum.” About 50 bloggers from countries including Armenia, Belgium, Bolivia, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, and the United Kingdom participated, collectively reaching an audience of over 34 million people.
