Deportation Drama: Passenger's Mid-Air 'Heart Attack' Fails to Evade Police

A man being deported from the United States staged a medical emergency aboard a transatlantic flight in a desperate bid to avoid arrest, according to a report from Paddle Your Own Kanoo (PYOK). The incident unfolded on February 2 aboard a Delta Air Lines Airbus A330 traveling from New York's JFK Airport to Tel Aviv, Israel.

Elazar Vigdorovich, who had been detained by U.S. Border Patrol upon arrival and placed on a return flight without an escort, is alleged to have faked a heart attack as the plane flew over Irish airspace. His performance prompted the crew to declare an emergency and divert the aircraft to Dublin.

While paramedics met the plane, Irish police were also waiting. Authorities were aware of Vigdorovich's criminal record and proceeded to the hospital to ensure his removal from Ireland. The Israeli national is wanted in his home country on several charges, including conspiracy to commit fraud, forgery, and obstruction of a police investigation.

The mid-air stunt proved only a brief delay. Officials coordinated to continue his deportation from Europe back to Israel, where he faces the original allegations.

In related news, Thai authorities reported deporting 20 Russian nationals in January 2026, double the number from a previous period, primarily for visa violations.
