China enters top five countries for Russian families travelling with children

China has cracked the top five destinations among Russian families travelling with children this summer, accounting for 4% of all bookings, according to online tour retailer Travelata.ru. The spot was held by the UAE last year, but travellers are being cautious about booking trips to the Emirates even though sales have resumed.

Turkey remains the most popular choice for Russian families, taking a 60% share of bookings. Egypt is second, and domestic trips across Russia rank third. Abkhazia rounds out the top five.

The average cost of a China tour was 261,000 roubles for nine nights. Trips to Turkey averaged 322,000 roubles per family, while an Egyptian holiday averaged 259,000 roubles. Domestic holidays averaged 134,000 roubles, and Abkhazia 156,000 roubles.
