Breeze Airways Launches Direct Flights from Cleveland to Coastal Maine, Adds Myrtle Beach Option

CLEVELAND — Northeast Ohio travelers looking for a coastal escape have two new direct routes to consider. Breeze Airways announced Tuesday it will begin nonstop service from Akron-Canton Airport to Portland, Maine, and will expand its existing South Carolina offerings with a new flight to Myrtle Beach.
The Portland service, a first for the airport, will operate twice weekly starting May 21. It positions travelers for quick access to Maine's rocky coastline, lighthouses, and renowned culinary scene. The new Myrtle Beach route, also twice weekly, begins on May 22, providing a more direct path to the Grand Strand's golf courses and beaches.
"These additions fit our model of connecting underserved city pairs," said a Breeze spokesperson. "We see strong demand from Ohio for classic summer destinations without the hassle of a connecting flight."
The low-cost carrier, which began operations in 2021, has made Akron-Canton a focus city. The new routes underscore its strategy of tapping into mid-sized markets. Fares for the introductory flights start at $49 one-way if purchased by next Tuesday. Industry analysts note the moves intensify competition for summer leisure travelers, offering alternatives to driving or connecting through major hubs. Tickets are available now on the airline's website.
