Bee Truck Mystery Solved: Uzbekistan Shipments Turned Back at Russian Border

RIA NovostiTuesday, May 12, 2026

Reports circulating on social media about two missing trucks carrying bees from Uzbekistan have been firmly denied by customs officials in Chelyabinsk. According to the Chelyabinsk Customs Service, the trucks never illegally entered Russia—they were turned away after failing veterinary inspections.

The incident began in April 2026, when a beekeeping company attempted to bring two trucks of bee packages into the Eurasian Economic Union through the Bugristoye checkpoint in the Chelyabinsk region. Both vehicles were stopped by Russia’s agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, after document checks revealed they did not meet veterinary requirements.

The first truck was denied entry immediately. The second arrived at the Troitsk customs post on April 19, where inspectors again called in Rosselkhoznadzor officials. After a second review of new documents, the shipment was again rejected.

Rather than abandon the bees, the company applied for re-export. On May 2, 2026, one of the trucks left the EAEU and was tracked to the Atameken customs post in Kazakhstan, on the border with Uzbekistan. Customs officials confirmed that the vehicle’s transit was completed there.

“The information about the disappearance of trucks with bees on Russian territory is false,” the customs service stated. Veterinary control at the Russia-Kazakhstan border was handled by the Ural interregional branch of Rosselkhoznadzor.

So, the bees are accounted for—just not where some online rumors suggested.
