Bali Governor Outlines Clear Expectations for Visiting Tourists

JAKARTA, April 7 – The governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, has issued a straightforward reminder to all international visitors, including those from Russia, about expected conduct on the island. The message centers on respecting local laws and cultural norms.

In an interview, Governor Koster emphasized that the island's policy requires tourists to adhere to these standards throughout their stay. The guidelines are detailed in an official "Dos and Don'ts in Bali" bulletin distributed to foreign guests upon arrival.

The governor specified several key points. Tourists are asked to dress modestly, obtain proper licenses before operating vehicles, and always wear helmets when riding motorcycles. The rules expressly prohibit traffic violations, excessive noise, public brawls, and reckless road behavior. Resisting police or running red lights is also forbidden.

"We insist that visitors to Bali demonstrate disciplined behavior," Koster stated. The announcement serves as a clear preemptive measure, ensuring travelers understand that the island's renowned hospitality is paired with expectations for orderly and respectful conduct from everyone.
