Avantika on W Hotels Campaign, Hotel Rituals and the Film That Left Her 'Peeing Myself With Laughter'
Avantika helped launch W Hotels' TIFF festivities with a rooftop dinner at W Toronto in Yorkville last week. The outdoor meal at TONO, the property's restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Akira Back, hosted just over 30 guests for skyline views and Nikkei cuisine, with the party continuing at TOKI Listening Bar.
The event also kicked off W Hotels' "Hotel Tales" campaign, which has featured stars like Chloë Sevigny and Ziwe. The latest film, "The Unexpected Invite," shows Avantika at W Toronto skipping her usual routine to attend a dinner party on the property.
The Mean Girls and Not Suitable for Work star told THR that hotels are a huge part of an actor's life, with nearly a quarter of the year spent in them. She praised W for offering warmth despite its large, luxurious feel.
Her longest hotel stay was three and a half months while filming. She recalled a stay in Budapest with W where the team embroidered her pillowcases with her name and had her favorite spaghetti ready even after room service ended. "Home is really the people you're with," she said.
Her travel ritual: visiting a local pharmacy for face masks or sunscreen and arranging a self-care display on her hotel counter.
Of the year's films, she raved about The Invite, saying she was "peeing myself with laughter" and saw it four times, each with a different group of friends.
She also has American Horror Story coming up, calling it intimidating but saying she loves anything scary. She couldn't tease her character but said fans are insightful at piecing together clues, and most of their instincts have been right.
Her favorite destination is Barcelona for its balance of nightlife, daytime culture and restful vibe. She'd love to visit Vietnam or Cambodia - prompting a W publicist to hint something might be coming.
