Aspen’s Summer Table: Where to Feast Between Mountain Adventures

Aspen has long been known as a winter playground, but its summer dining scene is just as magnetic. While the slopes empty out and on-mountain favorites like Bonnie’s and Cloud Nine shut down until November, the town’s restaurants and bars come alive again in June. Add the Food & Wine Classic, which has drawn culinary stars to the Rockies for more than four decades, and you’ve got a food lover’s paradise that runs all year.

For classic elegance, Element 47 at The Little Nell serves farm-fresh fare from breakfast through dinner. Think blinis with caviar by day, wagyu steaks from Colorado’s Cross Creek Ranch by night, paired with a wine list that wine director Chris Dunaway has built into an encyclopedia. At Hotel Jerome, J-Bar has been pouring drinks since 1889. Hunter S. Thompson and several U.S. presidents have bellied up here. The cheeseburger has a cult following, and the antique cash register is signed by decades of bartenders.

French Alpine Bistro offers a cozy escape with fondue and baked goat cheese with honey, while Bosq holds a Michelin star for chef Barclay Dodge’s hyper-seasonal menus. In summer, expect baby artichokes and bright tomatoes; winter brings fermented ingredients and braised meats. Clark’s Oyster Bar is the spot for seafood towers and lobster rolls, and Mawa’s Kitchen serves West African-inspired dishes like blueberry pancakes made with tiny fonio grain. Meat & Cheese keeps it casual with rotisserie chicken and mahi mahi tacos, and West End Social offers Rocky Mountain views with pork belly tacos and margaritas—plus a free shuttle from downtown.

Newcomers include Mt. Rubirosa, a Manhattan transplant serving meatballs and New York-style pizza through summer 2026, and a Marea pop-up at Snow Lodge with lobster and burrata salad. Wayan brings French-Indonesian fare like satay and crispy pork ribs in soy-tamarind sauce. Petit Trois, from L.A. chef Ludo Lefebvre, draws crowds for endive salad, baguette with butter, and a foie gras-loaded Big Mac called the Big Mec.

Beyond eating, Aspen offers hiking and mountain biking in summer, skiing in winter, and yoga on Aspen Mountain on weekdays. Shop global brands downtown or local labels like Aztech Mountain and Aspen Collection. Catch live acts at Belly Up, and visit the free Aspen Art Museum and Bayer Center. For lodging, Hotel Jerome delivers historic charm with refreshed rooms, The Little Nell offers ski-in-ski-out luxury, and Mollie Aspen pairs Japanese-minimalist design with a rooftop hot tub.
