Ants Swarm Russian Tourists’ Beds at Five-Star Turkish Resort, Video Shows

A family of Russian tourists got more than they bargained for at the five-star Barut Goia hotel in Side, Turkey, when a colony of ants invaded their room and bit them as they slept. The unsettling footage, shared by the Telegram channel “Krysha TurDoma,” shows the insects crawling across the bedsheets. Travel agent Anna, who arranged the booking for the family, said they checked in on April 21 and noticed a few ants that first evening. “The tourist was killing them with a slipper,” she recalled. But after the second night, the parents found their children covered in bites. They sent Anna photos and video of the ants swarming the linens. Hotel management offered the family alternative rooms and a medical checkup. It turned out that sugar residue on the floor had likely attracted the ants, and the area was thoroughly treated. The tourists considered switching hotels but learned they would have to pay for the move themselves. They opted to stay and change rooms instead. After returning home, they plan to file a formal complaint, Anna said. This incident follows a similar case in Thailand, where a Moscow couple awoke covered in blisters after fire ants infested their rented villa.
